Pastor Paul

Recently we have been blessed to receive a new pastor; Paul Brown along with his family. Here's a breif look at the past 30 years Paul has been in Ministory, written by Paul himself.

Over the last thirty years of my ministry as well as the chaplaincy I was engaged in at Wrexham FC, and have worked as relief Chaplain at the Wrexham hospital, and worked in Hospices, nursing homes, and Scope home!

I have listed some of the other areas of service I have been engaged in!

* We have run a cafe for outreach at the Wrexham Magistrates Court as well as Café Church in Essex.

* We have worked with dis-engaged folk, with problems relating to drugs, alcohol, domestic abuse, homelessness, learning difficulties and racial concerns!

* Set up a clothes, food and furniture bank for disengaged and misappropriated folk

* I have been chaplain at a professional football club (19 years) and a women’s hostel and Trustee at a homeless hostel for men!

* We have led services and workshops in a local Scope home called Drummonds as well as one to one support!

* I write daily readings and place them on our church web site to help nurture those in their walk with God or to reach out to those who have little or no faith in Christ!

* I am also registered as an Evangelist with Outreach UK!

God’s Word tells us “where there is no vision the people perish”

My Calling at the age of 17 to serve God came from Isaiah 61 and then on my ordination in 1982 was 1 Peter 5:2 that are still so important in the ministry which I am engaged in today and prayerfully will be till I leave this life and meet my Lord and Saviour.

Then as a dear brother in Christ praying with me just as I commenced ministry, prayed “That I would never allow the position I am called to, to ever outweigh the purpose”

Many years ago my Father used some words, that were recently given to me and I now grasp them, accept them and own them as a testimony to what God has called me to do, in helping others to find Christ as their Saviour!

Give me a passion for perishing souls - Show me Lord just where to begin

I know Thou canst not make use of me - Until I am cleansed from all sin!

Point out the weights that are hindering Lord - And come and burn up the dross

Give me a passion for perishing souls - My boasting, Thy glory, Thy cross!

There are some other passages of scripture that are so dear to our hearts as we serve God in the manner which He has created us to be!  Each of us have been created for a purpose… (Ephesians 4:7) we’ve been equipped to fulfil that purpose! (1 Peter 4:10)  God gave us special gifts to be exercised, not in isolation, but with each other -- loving our church family, our neighbours’, those in need around us as well as people around the globe. (Romans 12:4-8)  When we serve others, our personal spiritual growth is ignited! (Ephesians 4:13-16)

Yours in Christ’s loyal service Paul Owen Brown [Dip Theo. (Revd.)] these I seldom ever make reference to because I humble myself before my Lord and Saviour as His servant!

Thoughts on Christmas

Hi everyone.

Isn’t it scary at times to think how fast time goes, it’s “Christmas” again and for us as a family, it is our first Christmas up here in Yorkshire. We have settled down so well and love the warmth and closeness of all who have made us so welcome up here in Wibsey!

Christmas is a tremendous time of year, I love Christmas time, and the memories come flooding back from my childhood back in North Wales, all the carols, the Christmas festive events in towns and villages. But the one thing I don’t miss is the shopping!

So often our minds are taken away from the true meaning of Christmas. Yes, it is all about Jesus, in reality Jesus is the reason for the season.

As far back as 700 years before Jesus was born Isaiah tells us in Chapter 9 verses’ 6-7 For a child is born to us,
a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. His government and its peace
will never end. He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David
for all eternity. The passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will make this happen!

Also he reminds us in Isaiah 7:14“Look! The virgin will conceive a child!  She will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, which means ‘God is with us.’”

Then as we come to the New Testament we record the words in Matthew 1 18-25 gives us the account of how Jesus was born, making reference to Isaiah in verse 23. The account of that Isaiah foretold us about became real and therefore fulfilled his prophecy.

Yet, in a relative short time in history, more often than not because of modern technology, TV, Computers, hand held gadgets and smart phones etc. cause us to drift away from what God has provided for us in Jesus Christ!

This Christmas, may I ask you to consider the true meaning of Christmas, the word derived from old English means to “Worship Christ” Worship Christ this Christmas, in your actions, Words and interaction with others.

There is so much need in our society, and specifically in our community. Let’s give some time this Christmas to think how we can bring the true meaning of Christmas, Hope, Peace, Joy and Love in the Light of the World “Jesus” who came down amongst us and brought us the opportunity of being made right with God. And be blessed!

My prayer is that each and every one of the fellowship of Beacon Community Church and for all who receive this newsletter will be truly blessed this Christmas and that 2017 will be truly a spiritually blessed year.

If any of you have a need and would like to speak to me – don’t hesitate in contacting me, for what good am I if I can’t practice what I preach!

Happy Christmas and a truly blessed 2017
